Ceiling models are the very popular and belong to axial fans. It`s mounted to the ceiling and is designed for the air mixing in the premises. These models are especially effective in large rooms, for example, in shopping centers, halls, in sports facilities, in hangars, offices, etc.
Usually, ceiling fans have the very broad blades that are rotated with the help of an electric motor.
Engine is located inside the plastic or metal housing.
Ceiling fans most often have 3 or 6 blades that are made of different materials. Today companies use the plastic, wood or metal for their manufacturing. Most modern models additionally provide a decorative function that is achieved through different colors or images on the blades.
The rotation speed of ceiling fans is substantially below compared to other types of fans.
Sometimes there are original models with 2, 10 or 15 blades.
However, their aerodynamics is not optimal. Such fans are larger interesting as an object of decoration.
A special metal bracket is used for fixing the fan blades to the engine dynamic part.
Fixing to the ceiling is carried with the help of a special hook. The design of this element has several options. In many models, the hook is fixed on a plate that is screwed to the ceiling. Such mounting provides the reverse mode, because J-shaped stud is rotated in both directions.
Threaded hook is also widely used. It`s twisted with the help of dowels or directly to a ceiling surface.
Special barbell with adjustable length from 0.8 up to 5 ft provides a distance adjustment between the blades and the ceiling. The minimum distance between the floor and the blades must exceed 7.5 ft.
Typically, the fan contains 2 caps. One of them is the upper, other – the lower. The top cap protects the fastening system. The lower cap is designed to protect wires, boxes with terminals and capacitors. Small decorative caps hide fastening screws and brackets of rotating blades.
Balancing the blades of a ceiling fan is an important part of its installation. This adjustment prevents fluctuations during their rotation. Today, companies offer special kits for this purpose. The video at the end shows their use.
Many models are equipped with a special regulator for the air flow direction up or down. These models are called the reversible fans.
The fans often have special cords-switches for adjustment of the blades speed, direction of rotation, lighting control, etc.
Many models envisage the work in three-speed or five-speed modes. Modes are controlled by the cord-switch or remote control.
Ceiling fans with lights are very popular and are available in a wide range.
The companies use the standard incandescent, halogen lamps, LED or fluorescent lamps. Brightness lighting most often is adjusted by remote control.
Manufacturers recommend using a ceiling fan in the living rooms without conditioner. But user can alternate the operation of these devices.
Built-in models are designed for mounting in the false ceiling.
Ceiling fans are very common in office buildings, hospitals and schools. Laws of some countries require the mandatory installation of fans in rooms with lots of people at air temperature above 25 degrees.
