Features of turbo brush

Today choosing an optimal vacuum is not an easy task. High competition between canister vacuums, wet / dry vacuums, upright vacuums and robotic vacuums requires consideration of their features and functionality.

The cleaning efficiency depends on the accessories of model, among which the turbo brush is one of the main. Almost all companies constantly improve it, offering more and more complex models. Therefore, the modern turbo brush is quite a complicated and expensive device.

These brushes are equipped with a mechanical or electric drive.

Mechanical turbo brush

A rapidly rotating built-in roller with bristles collects garbage from the surface. Engineers actively experiment with roller design, trying to achieve maximum efficiency.

The brush is often equipped with small rubber wheels to increase mobility. A universal adapter provides compatibility of the brush with any diameter of extension rod. Virtually all have a removable cover for easy cleaning.

The mechanical drive design provides rotation due to the intake air flow. The speed of its rotation depends on the suction power. But a turbo brush reduces the suction power because part of the airflow is expended on the roller rotation. This reduction reaches 20-30%. Therefore, the mechanical model is well suited only for powerful vacuums.

Modern models additionally use vibration during rotation for dust lifting in the air. This technology increases the cleaning depth by almost half.

The optimal brush rotational speed greatly depends from the surface type. The roller with bristles rotates more slowly at cleaning the hard surfaces, such as linoleum, tile or laminate flooring. The rotation speed is significantly increased on the carpets for more intensive cleaning.

Turbo brush poorly suited for cleaning furniture or car salon due to sizes. It’s also inconvenient in narrow and confined spaces. Therefore, companies offer the many compact models.

These brushes are intended only for horizontal surfaces. The turbo brush is ineffective for small objects, such as coins, pieces of paper, etc., that are often get stuck in a roller. Some turbo brush models are equipped with the special hooks for removing roller when its cleaning from the hair.

Some models have a fill indicator that indicates the need of the brush cleaning. Transparent top cover also is intended for the same purpose.

Turbo brush with electrically driven

These models provide the brush rotation from the electricity. The rotating speed in such models is not dependent on the vacuum engine power. Therefore, such electro brushes are suitable for any vacuums. Electricity provides the constant suction power. These brushes work significantly quieter compared to mechanically driven. Although, the noise level frequently depends on the model.

Filling level of dust bag also not affects on the device efficiency.

High price, additional wires and fastenings are the main cons of the electro brushes.

Furthermore, the vacuum cleaner should have a special socket for the electrical power supply of brush.

It is believed that the electric brush can damage the pile due to the high rotation intensity. Therefore, electro brush is not recommended for cleaning worn-out carpets and coatings with a pile length of 1.5 cm and above.

The power consumption of electro motors usually does not exceed 150 W. Commonly, the brush housing is made of impact-resistant plastic.

Additional options

Many models have shockproof rubber molding around the perimeter for protection of furniture and walls from damage. The modern models are often equipped with the LEDs for lighting the cleaning zone.

This option is very useful when cleaning in dark places, for example, under bed, sofa, in corners.

The special adapter for compound with a tube and an electrical cable provides the brush rotation in the vertical and horizontal planes. This design provides a high mobility and usability.

The roller of some models has a spiral shape to reduce the resistance to air flow.

Many models are equipped with automatic overload protection when ingestion of foreign objects in the brush.

Models with battery have a higher price. They also require of right battery charging technology. The memory effect of not fully discharged battery subsequently leads to the battery charge only up to the level of the previous discharge. The microprocessor device with forced charging function solves this problem. Battery typically provides the 40 minutes of continuous operation. Charging time is about 4 hours.
