SharkNinja coffee machines

The popular American brands Shark and Ninja hardly need an introduction. They are owned by SharkNinja Operating LLC, which has successfully competed in the home appliance segment since 1994. Many consumers are familiar with Shark vacuums and steamers, Ninja blenders, multicookers and grills. Of course, the company can’t ignore one of the most sought-after appliances in the modern kitchen, and coffee makers occupy a worthy place in the SharkNinja line. Their range includes:

1. Espresso & 4-in-1 Systems

– Ninja AutoBarista (fully automatic ‘bean-to-cup’ AE series).

It’s one of the first hybrid semi-automatic espresso models of new gen. In fact, it offers the functionality of a fully automatic coffee machine with drip model capabilities;

– Ninja Luxe Café (hybrid/semi-automatic ES series).

These are advanced hybrid systems with built-in grinders, weight-based dosing, integrated scales, and a dual-froth system. They make espresso, drip coffee, and cold brew;

2. Ninja Espresso & Coffee Barista system (CFN series).

They can use both traditional coffee grounds and standard espresso pods/capsules.

3. DualBrew Systems (Grounds & Pods) – Ninja DualBrew Pro/Standard.

4. Specialty & Multi-Serve Drip Makers (CM and CP series);

5. Classic & Programmable Drip Makers (SE series).

In May 2026, the company introduced new AutoBarista series:

– Ninja AutoBarista (AE1001 / 10 one-touch presets) – $899.99;

– Pro version (AE1051 / 13 one-touch presets) – $949.99;

– Pro version in Vista Green (AE1051GN / 13) – $999.99.

All models have integrated tamper and feature iced latte, drip coffee, cold brew, and flat white programs. They also have modes for espresso, support hands-free FrothPerfect (café-quality microfoam) with Steamed, Thin, Thick, Extra-thick & Cold foam presets.

Ninja AutoBarista FrothPerfect

Their integrated grinder offers 50 grind settings and is compatible with self-calibrating Grind iQ tech (auto-adjusts grind).

Ninja AutoBarista Pro Design

Two coffee bean hoppers

The Ninja AutoBarista Pro features two interchangeable 340g coffee bean hoppers. The dual-hopper design provides switching between two different types of coffee beans. This is convenient, for example, when preparing regular and decaf, or light and dark roasts. To be fair, interchangeable hoppers were first demonstrated in the DeLonghi Rivelia.

Key Features

– hoppers are easy to change depending on the beans used.

Ninja AutoBarista Bean Hoppers

– each hopper has a handle and a built-in block mechanism that stops beans from spilling out;

– the coffee machine automatically detects a hopper change and prompts the optimal bean profile;

– the system remembers settings for each hopper.

Adjusting Milk Foam

The milk-steaming system with FrothPerfect tech provides superb balance between an auto milk frother and a semi-automatic machine’s steam wand. In fact, the user only selects the milk foam type (light, thick or extra-thick), for exampke, for cappuccino and presses Start. The coffee machine can use any milk, including non-dairy milk. Moreover, AutoBarista Pro can also make cold foam.

Programs

The Ninja AutoBarista Pro offers 13 built-in drink programs and 5 froth presets.

Drink Programs

– Americano;

– Cappuccino;

– Cold Brew.

This method was invented by Dutch traders, since hot water on ships during the voyage was limited. The technology used coarsely ground beans that are soaked in cold water for up to 24 hours.

SharkNinja coffee machines with a Cold Brew function (like the Ninja Luxe Café or Ninja Hot & Iced XL) use specialized low-temperature and low-pressure extraction tech. Unlike the classic recipe, they make fresh, flavorful cold brew in 10 to 15 minutes without the traditional 12-to-24-hour cold soak. For reference, a similar option is currently available only in premium models from Italian Delonghi, Swiss Jura, and German Nivona.

– Cold-Pressed.

The cold-pressed is a low-temperature, fast-extracted concentrated espresso shot. It’s usually served with ice.

Cold-pressed vs Cold Brew:

– brews rapidly at a room temp vs brews via a larger drip-coffee volume process at a lower heat setting;

– flavor and strength – strong, bold, and punchy vs milder, smoother, and less acidic;

– drink size – concentrated shot size (ideal for iced lattes) vs larger volume;

– Cortado – espresso + hot milk in proportions 1:1;

– Café Crema;

– Filter Coffee;

– Espresso;

– Flat White;

– Hot Water;

– Iced Latte;

– Latte;

– Lungo.

Froth Presets

– Steamed Milk;

– Thin Froth;

– Thick Froth;

– Extra-Thick Froth;

– Cold Foam.

Settings

– strength – 1-5 levels with water-to-coffee ratios adjustment;

– shot doses – single, double, or triple-shot dry coffee weight configurations;

– temp – adjustable profiles for milk and water output.

Self-calibrating GrindIQ grinder

An auto-calibrating Grind iQ conical-burr system automatically chooses optimal grinding from 50 settings and doses by weight, taking into account bean type, size, and freshness. For new beans it runs a multi-shot learning cycle to optimal extraction.

Ninja Self-calibrating GrindIQ grinder

Key Features

– auto adjustment – determines bean roast profile and flow rate, tuning the burrs over several test cycles;

– dual hopper – remembers calibration settings for each hoppers and purges old residue when switching;

– smart Indicator -lights up orange for fresh calibration cycle.

Calibration:

– filling the water tank and the whole-bean hopper;

– placing an empty cup under the coffee spout;

– selection Espresso on the panel;

– pressing the Grind IQ button and Start.

Some experienced users prefer to adjust the grind manually. Unfortunately, GrindIQ cannot be completely switched off due to its interaction with the scale and water volume sensor. However, the user can use manual grind adjustment or bypass the calibration cycle. Specifically, the manual offset in the drink settings interface shifts the grind size by several steps in either direction.

Furthermore, forcibly canceling the GrindIQ cycle causes the calibration indicators to turn off and the grinder to consistently use the current settings. Alternatively, the user can manually adjust the desired strength and volume through the control panel.

Unfortunately, the noise level of the stainless-steel conical burr grinder reaches 78.5 db due to the all-metal construction.

Conclusions

The concept of hybrids is increasingly dominating the consumer electronics segment. Micro RGB LED TVs with RGB backlit and an LCD panel, ALPD 5-based projectors with both lasers and LEDs as a light source, rugged phones with a built-in projector convincingly illustrate this trend. By embodying all the pros of related technologies, they offer expanded functionality without significantly increasing the price.

The Ninja AutoBarista was the first successful hybrid coffee machine. It combined the fully automatic models with popular drip tech and Cold Brew function. Furthermore, the developers equipped the coffee machines with an innovative self-calibrating GrindIQ grinder, a FrothPerfect function for milk-based coffee drinks, and two coffee bean hoppers. AutoBarista models range in price from $ 900 to $ 1,000, providing them with a superb price-quality ratio. By comparison, Cold Brew is currently only available in premium models from DeLonghi, Jura, Nivona (NIVO 9000 series), and Philips Cafe Aromis LatteGo Pro 8000. With the exception of the Cafe Aromis model, which costs around $ 900, their prices are well over $ 1,000.

Some experts criticize the excessive automation of the non-disableable Grind iQ function, the insufficient coffee strength in some programs, etc. But with the exception of the excessive grinder noise during operation due to the metal housing, these issues are not critical. However, improved sound insulation in future versions may solve this problem.

Overall, the top spots on many top lists fairly accurately reflect the Ninja AutoBarista.
