Dishwasher failures

Household appliances are an integral part of modern life. TVs, air conditioners, PCs, vacuum cleaners, dozens of kitchen appliances, etc. fill the apartments of modern people. Of course, they radically simplify household chores and expand our capabilities. But everything has its price. Unfortunately, even expensive models from reputable manufacturers periodically break. As a rule, the guarantee partially solves these problems, but even it does not relieve from additional troubles, and sometimes, from costs. As a result, the modern person about once a month is faced with this unpleasant situation.

Of course, the market in abundance offers the various customer services for the repair of any equipment. But the intervention of qualified specialists is unlikely to be justified due to clogged filter, a program crashes, or due to another, fairly simple reason. As a rule, most users can eliminate such failures without their help, saving time and money.

Surely, the repair success directly dependents on the correct identification of the failure cause. But today, many manufacturers equip their models with the option of self-diagnosis, which greatly simplifies this task.

Of course, a dishwasher is one of the most popular appliances in the modern kitchen. Modern innovative models provide high efficiency and excellent functionality. In turn, digital technologies provide a fairly high level of self-diagnosis. Unfortunately, the ambiguous interpretation of error codes in some cases limits the possibilities of this useful option. But companies every year improve its quality in their models. As a result, modern models from leading manufacturers provide a very high level of self-diagnostic accuracy, simplifying the owner to search and repair simple failures.

Displaying errors in the dishwasher

As a rule, most modern models use a screen to display an error code.

As a rule, the instruction contains the decoding of error codes. For example, a complete list of failures for modern Bosch models contains up to 200 different characters. But the list of the most frequent faults includes:

– E1 – no water heating;

– E2 – wrong values from the pressure switch (pressostat);

– E5 – water overflow;

– E6 – Aqua- stop failure;

– E9 – electric heater failure;

– E15 – clogged filters or triggered leakage protection;

– E17 – no water;

– E21, E24 drain pump failure.

In principle, most failures occur for one of these reasons.

But for reasons of aesthetics, many companies place controls on the upper side surface of the front panel.

Such dishwashers often do not have a screen, and display the error codes with the help of flashing the corresponding indicators. In addition, some models without a screen use TimeBeam technology to display the wash cycle time. In this case, the laser displays the time on the floor near the device.

Major failures

Heating element

Diagnosis includes:

– the user must make sure that the cold cycle without heating is not activated;

– removal and testing the electric heater with a multimeter.

Many users can check and, if necessary, replace the electric heater themselves. But some modern models use an improved pump with built-in flow-through electric heaters.

Unfortunately, such repair requires the replacement of the entire node.

Water level sensor (pressostat)

This sensor generates a signal for control algorithms. Accordingly, a sensor malfunction can block the operation of some modes. Often, too hard water forms a lime scale on contacts. In this case, simple cleaning solves the problem. The multimeter provides verification of its electronics. The mechanical part of the pressure switch user can check by blowing the tube. Clicks during the passage of air flow indicate its good condition.

No water drainage

The drain filter on the tank bottom requires regular cleaning.

Usually, it uses a coarse and fine strainers.

Its cleaning is the same for Bosch, Electrolux, Siemens and many other models and involves the removal of food debris under cold running water using a toothbrush or an old toothbrush. However, many companies complement their models with a special brush. The video at the end demonstrates the process of removing and cleaning this filter.

In addition, threads, hair and other debris on the motor shaft can block the impeller rotation.

Of course, it also periodically requires cleaning.

Other

No water supply

Activating the Aqua-stop blocks the water supply. This check requires unscrewing the hose and visual inspection.

Tightly pressed valve to the walls indicates on its triggering. Of course, such a failure requires further diagnostics to determine the reason for the protection operation.

Failure of the control module

Virtually any error code may indicate a malfunction of the electronic module that controls all the elements and modes. Of course, such a search and repair require some qualifications. But some users can solve this problem on their own. The control board uses several triacs that generate signals to turn on the pump, electric heater, etc. Most often, the failure of one of them blocks the operation of the corresponding element. Sometimes, the user can visually identify the faulty simister.

Unfortunately, this repair requires a soldering iron and the ability to work with it. On the other hand, replacement of the control module usually requires substantial costs.
