Portable XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro vs MoGo 4 vs MoGo 4 Laser Full HD projectors Review

The family of portable mid-focal Full HD XGIMI MoGo LED projectors has been successfully competing in the market since November 2019. Almost every year, the company expands this popular line with new models. This year was no exception. In June 2025, the company introduced the new MoGo 4 with LED light engine and MoGo 4 Laser, which uses a laser light source for the first time. Both new projectors are winners of the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2025. Thus, the list of current MoGo models today includes MoGo Pro / 2 / 2 Plus / 2 Pro / 3 Pro and the new MoGo 4 / 4 Laser.

The built-in battery has become the main difference between the new projectors and the previous models. As the name suggests, the triple-laser RGB light source is the main difference between the MoGo 4 and 4 Laser. It provides an additional 100 ISO lumens (550 vs 450 ISO lumens) and a wider color gamut (110% BT. 2020 vs 90% DCI-P3 color space).

The prices (late summer 2025):

MoGo 3 Pro ~ $ 340;

– MoGo 4 and 4 Laser ~ $ 500 and $ 680.

In addition to traditional remote control, new projectors have an additional mini remote on the side of the projector. It has a simplified navigational pad and actually replaces controls.

The projectors features dual 6W Harman Kardon speakers with audio modes, including Movie, Music, Game, and Sports. The Harman Kardon brand hardly needs any introduction and is a significant bonus to the projector.

In gaming mode, with automatic keystone correction disabled, input lag is less than 20ms. In fact, it’s low enough for all except professional gaming. But activating it increases it to 56 ms.

Picture modes

MoGo 4 / Laser slightly heavier (1.3 kg vs 1.1 kg) than last year’s 3 Pro. It uses a 0.23-inch DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) chipset with ~2 million micromirrors that deliver Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution. The 360-degree rotation with built-in gimbal stand simplifies installation. XGIMI’s Intelligence Screen Adaptation (ISA) technology is considered one of the best in the industry. It includes uninterrupted auto keystone correction, auto focus and Eye Protection.

It reduces brightness when an object is detected in front of the projector.

The focusing range reaches a 200-inch diagonal image. But given the limited brightness, the company recommends image boundaries between 60 to 120 inches. The measured native contrast of the MoGo 4 does not exceed 400:1, but in the Laser 4 it reaches 1,000:1, which is very good for a portable model. Google TV offers Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Max, YouTube, and others. The built-in Google Cast supports screen mirroring.

The new MoGo offers four most popular picture modes, including Standard, Movie, Game, and User. The developers have abandoned the brightest mode with low color accuracy due to the traditional green shift. However, the user can increase the output light power using the Performance setting when ambient light is too bright. Standard and ECO provide maximum color accuracy.

The measured brightness ranges from 150 lumens in ECO mode to 400 lumens in Performance mode, which almost matches the stated 450 lumens. The brightness of the optimal Standard mode is 260 lumens.

Unfortunately, Movie mode offers oversaturated colors and is similar to Vivid mode with poor color accuracy in other projectors.

Game mode has a mild blue tint, which, however, does not interfere with the game.

Color accuracy in User mode can be significantly improved using the color management system.

Key Features

Model comes with four options of Sunset Magnetic Creative Filter, including yellow, blue, purple and fuchsia gradients. Theу are attaches to the lens and designed for enhancing ambiance in low-lit environments when the projector is not being used for watching.

The filters support gesture control and are switched by waving your hand in front of the lens, offering some cyclically changing color schemes.

In addition to the included Sunset filter, the company offers an optional $ 99 pack that includes Ripple, Dreamscape, and Lunar options. The Ripple filter creates illusion wave-like motions, the Dreamscape filter projects ethereal colors, and a moonlit blue tone with the Lunar filter is perfect for night. However, any of them will decorate the party.

Ambient Speaker mode turns the projector into a Bluetooth speaker with lighting. It’s activated via Ambient Light setting on the main remote control and works when the projector is folded. The synced lighting with multiple color optionsis ideal for a party.

XGIMI’s app called XGIMI Wall on the Google Play Store provides projection of photos and videos, including stars in space, artwork and any engaging visuals. For example, one of the apps creates the illusion of an underwater world with fish, sharks, and stingrays.

Like the MoGo 3 Pro, the new projectors are compatible with the PowerBase Stand, which is sold separately and costs $ 129. In fact, it combines the functions of a tripod and a power bank.

Unfortunately, the 3 Pro and newer models use different versions of it, which are not interchangeable.

Unlike last year’s projector, the new products have the built-in battery, which provides up to 2.5 hours when playing video or 6 hours for music.

The MoGo 4 and MoGo Laser successfully expand the popular line of portable mid-focal XGIMI MoGo Full HD projectors. Priced under $ 500, the MoGo 4 offers a built-in battery, 360° gimbal stand, optional PowerBase Stand, Google TV with built-in Netflix, superb audio with Harman Kardon speakers, exclusive Ambient Light Mode and Magnetic Creative Filter. The MoGo Laser costs almost $ 700, but its triple-laser light engine is 100 lumens brighter (550 vs 450 lumens) and offers a wider color gamut, reaching 110% for the BT.2020 color space. It also has better contrast (1,000:1 vs. 400:1).

But, of course, they will face tough competition from their opponents. The list of new portable mid-focal Full HD projectors, for example, includes:

ASUS ZenBeam L2 ~ $ 660, August 2023, LED, 400 ANSI Lumens, Google TV with Netflix;

Dangbei Freedo – $ 400, February 2025, LED, 450 ISO Lumens;

JMGO Picoflix – $ 400, October 2024, LED, 450 ANSI Lumens;

Yaber T2 Plus Keith Haring Edition – $ 400, September 2024, LED, 450 ANSI Lumens.

However, any competition can only be welcomed by consumers.
