Jura J10 vs J10 Twin coffee machines Review

The coffeeholics and java junkies are well acquainted with the iconic Jura brand, which is owned by the Swiss company Elektroapparate AG. It develops and produces premium home appliances since 1931. In the early 90s coffee machines became the company’s core business. Today it’s innovative leader in premium segment. Jura models are manufactured by the Swiss Eugster/Frismag company. Today, it and Saeco are the world’s leading manufacturers of automatic coffee machines. For reference, it’s also an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) supplier for Bosch, Melitta, Nivona, and other popular brands.

Jura Twin models

Traditionally for industry leaders, the company expands its product lineup every year, and this year was no exception. The Jura J10 Twin was officially announced and launched in late 2025, and this year it went on sale in various regions.

In fact, it became the logical continuation of the company’s successful experiment with using a second coffee bean hopper and grinder. It has a small prehistory.

At 2023 the Jura officially presented the improved version of the J8 called J8 Twin.

The two independent bean hoppers and two high-performance conical grinders became its main bonus. Today it costs $ 3,600 – $ 3,800 in the US and about £ 2,100 in the UK. For comparison, the price of the Jura J8 is ~$ 3,300 in the USA and starts at £ 1,670 in the UK. Many consumers consider this 10 – 20% price difference quite reasonable and opt for the upgraded version. Building on this success, the company released the enhanced J10 Twin version of the 2024 J10 model. As with the J8, the key difference is the presence of a second grinder and bean hopper.

J10 Twin was officially announced on November 7, 2025, and in 2026, this technological miracle became available to coffee lovers. Today the single-hopper J10 model costs ~£ 1,790 in the UK. In the USA, Jura sells only the dual-grinder and dual-hopper Jura J10 Twin version, priced at ~$ 3,800. In the UK, its price ranges from £ 1,900 to £ 2,175. Judging by UK prices, the difference is about 10%.

Despite the almost identical platform and design, the features of the models are not identical.

Jura J10 Twin features:

– Cold Brew drinks;

– Light Extraction drinks;

– Wake-Up and Brew Functionality (starting coffee brewing via a timer in the app).

In fact, only this Swiss company today offers super-automatic espresso machines with two grinders on a home unit. The additional hopper and grinder provide significant bonuses:

– a second hopper for decaffeinated coffee;

– different grind settings (for example, extra coarse for cold brew drinks);

– a second grinder as a backup in case of breakdown.

Coffee grinders and technologies

The Jura J10 model features a single 280-gram bean hopper and one Professional Aroma Grinder 2+ (P.A.G.2+). It supports an active grind monitoring function, ensuring the optimal grind for the selected beverage. For example, a finer grind is optimal for espresso and a coarser one is preferable for lungo. The J10 Twin model is equipped with two hoppers (180 grams each) and two P.A.G.3+ grinders. This allows coffee enthusiasts, for example, to load a rich espresso blend into one hopper and a single-origin coffee (beans from a specific country, region, or plantation, featuring notes of citrus, berries, flowers, or spices) into the other. Additionally, the second hopper is highly convenient for using decaffeinated coffee.

P.A.G.2+ vs P.A.G.3+:

– the ‘+’ (Aroma Control) indicates the presence of active grind quality monitoring, which tracks bean condition and consistency;

– new generation features improved burr geometry and a mechanism to prevent bean jamming;

– the P.A.G.3+ positioning system protects against minor malfunctions when adjusting grind settings.

Both models utilize the proprietary P.E.P. (Pulse Extraction Process) tech. It forces water through the coffee puck in short pulses, extending the extraction time.

P.E.P. more effectively brings out the coffee’s flavor profile and enhances the drink’s richness. The difference is particularly noticeable in small-volume beverages, such as espresso or ristretto.

These models also support the popular new Sweet Foam feature, which will appeal to those who enjoy experimenting. This mode is designed to evenly blend syrup with milk foam while the beverage is being prepared. Accordingly, the coffee machines come with a syrup attachment that replaces the standard milk system spout on the frother.

It’s used, for example, in the Sweet Latte or Sweet Cappuccino programs.

Cold Brew

Both coffee machines support the innovative Cold Extraction Process tech. Some people confuse it with popular Iced Coffee made by adding ice cubes. To be fair, some companies are adjusting their programs, making the coffee stronger and more intense to compensate for the dilution caused by melting ice.

But Cold Brew is fundamentally different. In this process, extraction is achieved using cold water that slowly passes through the coffee puck. The resulting beverage has less bitterness and more pronounced fruity notes. For reference, this technology was invented by Dutch merchants in the 16th century. At that time, hot water was in short supply on wooden ships due to the fire risk associated with open flames. As avid coffee aficionados, the merchants developed a method of extraction without using it. They would pour cold water over very coarsely ground coffee and let it steep for 12 to 14 hours. Until recently, this technology was found only in premium Jura and DeLonghi models. In Jura models, cold water is delivered in short, high-pressure pulses over a period of 2–3 minutes. For example, the Jura Z10 offers eight Cold Brew programs.

In DeLonghi coffee machines, the pump operates at a calibrated, reduced pressure, simulating the drip brewing method. The brewing time ranges from 3 to 5 minutes.

But today, it’s featured in the new Philips Cafe Aromis LatteGo Pro 8000 EP8757/20. The Nivona Nivo 8107/8112 models offer a similar feature called Chilled Brew. The new Ninja Luxe Cafe series also includes a Cold Brew option. Finally, the new, compact KitchenAid KF3/4 models also feature a simplified version of this tech.

Programs and panel

The Twin version offers 46 programs compared to the standard model’s 42. The selection includes all of today’s popular recipes. They prepare espresso, latte macchiato, various Cold Brew and Sweet Foam options, and even an Extra Shot feature with increased coffee intensity (adding an extra portion of coffee to milk-based drinks).

The J10 Twin additionally offers 4 programs utilizing the innovative Light Brew mode. It’s designed for light-roast coffee and employs a gentler extraction process that preserves subtle citrus or floral flavor notes. In practice, the method uses a lower extraction temperature (~60°C) and a reduced quantity of coffee beans.

Light Brew features:

– a mild taste with reduced characteristic coffee bitterness;

– a lower temperature (~60°C) better brings out fruity notes;

– reduced coffee strength is ideal for fans of lighter coffee drinks or individuals with high blood pressure.

Panel

The J10 has a responsive 4.3-inch touchscreen with an intuitive interface. Like the premium GIGA 10, J10 Twin uses the 6.7-inch three-panel touchscreen called Panorama Coffee Panel.

For instance, it simultaneously displays both coffee bean systems.

The designs of the models also differ slightly. The more elegant J10 features a symmetrical design with glossy front panels and decorative elements in Night Chrome. The J10 Twin has a more substantial, robust look with a ‘technical’ style finish.

Conclusions

Pros:

– Hot Brew, Cold Brew, Sweet Foam and Extra Shot features;

– 46 programs;

– two grinders and two hopers;

– P.A.G.3+ grinder;

– 6.7-inch Panorama Coffee Panel with convenient drink menu;

– on-demand cold brew.

Cons

– expensive;

– all plastic construction.

Of course, Jura coffee machines are quite expensive. However, superb Swiss quality—backed by a flawless reputation spanning nearly a century – is unlikely to come cheap. Beyond their reputation, Jura models offer virtually all popular innovative technologies, many of which are unique. A partial list includes P.E.P. tech, the P.A.G.3+ grinder, Light Brew, Cold Brew, and Sweet Foam options, the Coffee Eye function, the Extra Shot program, the 6.7-inch Panorama Coffee Panel, and other innovations. The Twin concept fits perfectly into this trend. For a modest price increase, these models offer significantly improved usability and an additional grinder. For reference, even the first-generation P.A.G. system costs $ 220–$ 300 when purchased separately. Therefore, despite a price in the $ 3,000–$ 4,000 range for US, the Jura J10 Twin offers a superb price-to-quality ratio. While students or newlyweds might quite reasonably opt for a budget-friendly model that simply makes tasty black coffee, a Jura coffee machine is an excellent choice for passionate coffee enthusiasts with a healthy budget.
