The famous Italian brand DeLonghi hardly needs an introduction. It has been successfully competing in the home appliance sector since 1902. Until the 1990s, the company manufactured heating and climate control systems. In 1990, it entered the global market with its first coffee machine. Today, automatic coffee machines, drip coffee makers, and coffee grinders form the core of its business.
Alongside the Swiss company Jura, DeLonghi is an industry leader in innovation, offering a vast range of models. Its coffee machines feature virtually every innovation, including various brewing technologies (Hot/Cool/Light), a vast array of one-touch programs (over 50 in the Delonghi Eletta Ultra,), models with dual grinders and bean hoppers (Rivelia), LatteCrema Hot/Cold carafes for hot and cold milk foam, and much more.
Flagship coffee machines and new technologies are developed at the R&D center in Treviso, Italy, where the company is headquartered. This is also where the premium and flagship series are assembled (PrimaDonna and Maestosa). Other production is distributed across several factories in various countries, including Romania (main production) and China (budget and capsule models).
In 2003, the iconic Magnifica series became the first fully automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine on the market. The classic Magnifica S line cemented its commercial success. These models featured mechanical buttons, dials, a manual steam wand, and a Twin-Shot system (brewing two cups of espresso simultaneously). The Magnifica Start and Evo, Magnifica Plus, and Magnifica Evo Next continued the Magnifica’s triumphant march into the kitchens of coffee lovers.
This year, the company introduced the new DeLonghi Magnifica Duo (ECAM 330.80).

Magnifica Duo
It has an ECAM 330.80 index and was officially announced on July 22, 2026, and pre-orders for it began in May 2026.
The size and weighs are (9.5 x 17.5 x 14 inches) / (240 x 440 x 360 mm)@(9.435 – 9.8 kg) / (20.8 to 21.2 lbs) depending on the specific model. They are typical for this class, but visually the Magnifica Duo seems compact due to its streamlined design.

The platform and functionality of the new model are typical of the Magnifica family and fully consistent with a mid-range fully automatic espresso machine:
– stainless steel conical burr grinder (13 adjustment settings);
– 4 coffee strength settings, adjustable drink volume and 3 temp settings;
– intuitive control touch panel;
– easy cleaning.
Simple and intuitive controls make instructions unnecessary even for beginners.
The main bonus of the new model was an improved version of its LatteCrema automatic milk system. It has two carafes for hot and cold milk foam.

LatteCrema jug – Hot vs Cool
– traditional hot milk-based coffee recipes vs cold-foamed and iced coffee drinks;
– creating the rich, dense, and long-lasting hot foam with steam, air, and heat (up to 65°C / 149°F) vs light, airy, and refreshing cold foam using the mechanical milk frothing by air at low temp;
– classic hot beverages (Cappuccino, Latte, Latte Macchiato, etc) vs cold/iced recipes (Iced Cappuccino, Iced Latte, Latte Macchiato Cold, Caffelatte, Cappuccino Mix, Flat White Cold);
– dark lid vs white lid.
To be fair, this feature is already present in the flagship Eletta Explore and the premium PrimaDonna Elite / Aromatic / Soul models. However, it’s available for the first time in the mid-range Magnifica Duo, which costs just $ 800.
Key features
Interface
The Duo series uses a very successful version of placing the control panel at an angle, providing the most convenient view for a coffee lover of average height. A similar design is used in the Magnifica Evo and Evo Next. It consists of a 2.4″ / 6 cm color display and soft-touch buttons on the sides. The six one-touch drink options are selected by color icons. The buttons provide an accessing other drinks within the menu. After selecting a program, the coffee lover can adjust the volume and strength.
Overall, the interface layout follows the pattern seen in models from the last few years. It includes the touch panels on either side for hot and cold coffee recipes and the central non-touch screen. In addition, the arrow and OK buttons below the screen provide navigation.

Espresso
Naturally, espresso quality remains a key characteristic of any model. Producing a rich shot requires a sufficiently large coffee puck. In the Magnifica Duo, the maximum puck weight at the setting of 5 reaches 15 grams, which is enough to brew an intense espresso. For reference, the industry average ranges from 10 to 16 grams.
Milk Foam
Magnifica Duo comes with both the LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool jugs. DeLonghi’s LatteCrema automatic milk frothing system is rightfully considered one of the best in the industry. It’s extremely easy to clean and offers a choice of one of three foam density levels by moving the dial on the carafe. For reference, according to many baristas, non-fat or non-dairy milk gives the best results.
Brewing technologies
Naturally, employing new brewing technologies is the most effective way to expand a coffee machine’s capabilities. In fact, every new method or feature doubles the number of available programs. For instance, the new DeLonghi Eletta Ultra offers over 50 one-touch programs. This list includes traditional cappuccino, latte macchiato, caffe latte, and their ‘cold’ versions (cold cappuccino, cold latte macchiato, etc).
The American Ninja Cafe Mini Plus, also utilizes a ‘3-in-1’ concept with hot, cold and drip brewing support.
The Magnifica Duo also offers three brewing methods. For example, when espresso is selected, the model activates a pre-infusion function before ramping up the pressure for extraction. Selecting drip coffee from the menu lowers the pressure and disables pre-infusion. This mode allows the coffee grounds to ‘bloom,’ creating a flavor profile more typical of classic drip coffee.
Cold brew is prepared by lowering the pressure and extending the extraction time to several minutes using room-temp water. Incidentally, this method was invented by Dutch traders in the 16th century. Lighting open fires on the wooden ships of that era was dangerous; consequently, the scarcity of hot water made preparing their favorite beverage a challenge. However, these inventive merchants devised a technique that didn’t require hot water. They steeped very coarsely ground coffee in cold water for 12 to 14 hours. The extended extraction duration compensates for the low temp. This tech yields a smoother taste with reduced bitterness. Modern coffee machines prepare cold coffee in just a few minutes by precisely controlling pressure during extraction.
The Magnifica Duo offers a menu of 20 drinks, including hot water and cold milk.

The temp, volume, and coffee strength for cappuccino, americano, and flat white are customizable and can be saved to one of three user profiles.

DeLonghi Magnifica Duo worthily expands the legendary series. Today, its price ranges from $ 800 to $ 1,000 in the USA and from € 580 to € 720 in Europe. Considering the brand’s impeccable reputation, three brewing methods, superb milk-based programs with LatteCrema Hot/Cool jugs, the price-quality ratio is excellent. Of course, competition in this price segment is also very fierce. A partial list includes:
– Jura C9 – $ 1,800 in the USA and € 1,000 – € 1,100 (£ 800) in the Europe;
– Ninja AutoBarista – $ 700 to $ 1,000, and Ninja Luxe Cafe series – from $ 500 (depending on the model);
– KitchenAid KF4 – $ 1,300.
With the exception of the base Ninja Luxe Cafe version, the Magnifica Duo is priced very competitively. In any case, coffee lovers, especially milk-based recipes, get another great model from the famous Italian company.
