The iconic Jura brand is familiar to most coffee lovers. It belongs to the Swiss company Elektroapparate AG, which has been producing premium home appliances since 1931. Since the early 90s, the company has focused on coffee machines and today is one of the innovative leaders in this segment.
The Jura produces coffee machines through the Eugster/Frismag company, whose factories are located in Portugal and Switzerland. For reference, today Eugster/Frismag and Saeco are the world’s leading manufacturer of automatic coffee machines and OEM suppliers (original equipment manufacturer) for many well-known brands, including Bosch, Melitta and Nivona.
The Jura line includes several full-size series, ultra-compact budget-friendly and mid-range C series (formerly the A and Ena series).
Jura C3 and C9
Traditionally for industry leaders, Jura updates its product range annually. In 2026 the company introduced the compact C3 and C9 models. The officially released of C9 took place in January 2026. A retail launch of the Jura C3 for global markets took place in February 2026.
The price difference between models in Europe and the USA is (€ 700 – € 800) / $ 1,200 vs (€ 945 – € 1,120) / ($ 1,800 – $ 2,200). C3 is slightly cheaper in Europe (~10%), but in America the C9 is almost twice as expensive.
Both models use the Professional Aroma Grinder (P.A.G.), the Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.) tech with high-extraction quality, have identical dimensions, 1,6 l / 54 oz water reservoir and a 200 g bean hopper, and support optional Wi-Fi Connect adapters to control with phone.
Differences:
– C3 makes only black coffee and espresso, C9 offers up to 17 drink options, including milk-based coffee drinks and a mild-brew mode;
– Jura C3 has a black-and-white text/icon display, C9 is equipped with color screen;
– C3 offers only standard hot brewing with P.E.P., C9 supports Light Extraction Process (L.E.P. / Light Brew) for milder, lower-temperature drinks.
The models have identical dimensions, but differ slightly in weight (C9/C3) – (10.2″ x 12.8″ x 17.2″) / (26 x 32.5 x 43.7 cm)@9.5 kg / 20.9 lbs and 8.8 kg / 19.4 lbs.

It’s funny, but the C9 is really 0.5″ narrower vs ENA series that it replaces. Additionally, the water tank capacity of C-Series models has been increased to 1.6 liter / 54 oz over the ENA’s 1.1 l / 37.2 oz capacity. But overall, the specs of the C-series models are close to the Ena.

Key Features
The similar names may sometimes be misleading. The new compact Jura C9 is completely different from the Jura Impressa C9 One Touch from 2008.

This model first launched and gained popularity in the late 2000s as part of Jura’s compact C-line with the One-Touch cappuccino program. Today, its price varies between $ 200 and $ 500.
Jura positions its coffee machines for the USA, priced at ~$ 2,000, as ‘Premium Economy.’ To be fair, their price in Europe is only ~€ 1,000.
In the C9, the developers implemented control using several buttons around a bright 2.8-inch / 7 cm color LCD display instead of a touch screen.

This solution eliminates the problem of the fingerprints and coffee smudges on the panel.
The model uses Professional Aroma Grinder (P.A.G.). It provides seven grind adjustment settings, which can be selected by sliding the dial between the ‘Mild’ and ‘Intense’ levels.

The 200-gram / 7-ounce bean hopper is integrated into the top of C9 and has seal lid that reliably protects coffee beans from moisture.
Light Brew Function provides a milder extraction profile at lower temp and allows the coffee drinker to enjoy aromatic warm drink immediately after preparation.
The list of adjustable parameters includes program coffee strength across 10 levels, control milk foam ratios, and adjust hot water or brewing temperatures per cup.
Ground Coffee Bypass option activates the powder chute via the menu to brew decaf or alternative pre-ground pre-sets.
Traditional hot drink programs utilize the proprietary Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.) tech. In this mode, the water is pulsed through the coffee tablet, which increases extraction efficiency and reducing brewing time.

Programs
Specialty Drink Menu offers 17 programmed options including espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato, flat white, cortado, and espresso macchiato.

Hot Brews
– Espresso and 2x Espresso;
– Coffee (standard full-sized black coffee cup) and 2x Coffee;
– Ristretto (short, highly concentrated espresso) and 2x Ristretto.
Milk-based and trendy specialties
– Cappuccino (espresso with microfoam milk);
– Latte Macchiato (milk, espresso, and milk foam);
– Caffè Latte (milk coffee blend);
– Flat White (velvety microfoam poured over rich espresso);
– Cortado (espresso cut with a small amount of warm milk);
– Espresso Macchiato (strong espresso with added frothed milk or milk foam).
Light Brew
– Light Espresso (milder flavor profile due to brewed at lower temp);
– “-” Coffee (airy, less intense vs standard coffee);
– “-” Cappuccino (softer coffee base with frothed milk);
– “-” Flat White (delicate espresso with silky milk);
– Portion of Milk Foam (warm, textured milk).
Light Brew Function provides a milder, cooler extraction profile designed for immediate, smooth drinking.
The list of adjustable parameters includes program coffee strength across 10 levels, control milk foam ratios, and adjust hot water or brewing temperatures per cup.
Ground Coffee Bypass option activates the powder chute via the menu to brew decaf or alternative pre-ground pre-sets.
L.E.P. brewing
Light Extraction Process (L.E.P.) brewing tech is one of the main model bonuses. It essentially complements the Cold Extraction process first implemented in the Jura Z10. In October 2025, early 2026 and mid-to-late summer, the company introduced a new Z10 2nd gen in Europe, Australia and in North America, respectively. This model offers Light Brew extraction at ~60°C to enhance the fruity or acidic components depending on the variety. A mild and low-bitter Light Brew is ready-to-drink coffee without needing to cool down. As a result, the list of brewing technologies it supports has reached three, including the traditional Hot, the new Cold, and the latest Light Brew.

Without losing its research zeal, the company continues to experiment with cold brew coffee. As a result, the new C9 already offers a new Light Extraction Process (L.E.P. method):
– brewing at a much lower temp ~ 60 °C / 140 °F;
– reduction of the standard coffee ground dose by ~10%;
– minimization of the extraction of bitter compounds and tannins while maintaining a distinct flavor profile.
Hardcore coffee drinkers might be skeptical of weak, warm coffee, but in hot summers it can be a welcome addition, especially for those with high blood pressure or before bed.
The auto milk system is traditionally superb. Fine Foam tech ensures near-perfect milk foam consistency.
With the optional WiFi Connect, the lucky owner of the Jura C9 will have access to the J.O.E. app, which is considered one of the best in the industry today.
Conclusions
Pros
– compact and stylish design;
– many adjustable settings;
– 16g Brew Group;
– fast and quiet grinding;
– superb espresso;
– easy to use and clean.
Cons
– Light Brew function is not ideal;
– no hot water dispenser;
– all plastic exterior.
Some experts have criticized the new Light Extraction Process (L.E.P.) brewing system, but they’re not entirely objective. Weak and lukewarm coffee may be unusual for those who enjoy a strong, bitter, invigorating drink in the steaming cup of coffee. But on a hot summer day, a warm, moderately strong drink is appropriate, especially for those with high blood pressure. In any case, expansion of functionality without increasing the price is a benefit to the consumer.
Overall, the replacement of Ena with C-series was a success. But despite the brand’s impeccable reputation proven over decades, the price seems too high for the American market. Indeed, the price segment around $ 2,000 is very densely filled with excellent offers, including, for example, Ninja AutoBarista Pro, wide selection of Delonghi, or Philips Cafe Aromis LatteGo Pro 8000. But ~€ 1,000 in Europe provides for C9 superb quality-value ratio and excellent marketing prospects.
